Mary's Old Fashioned Date Nut Bread

 

Ingredients bread

2 cups of flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 cup dates (chopped)

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 cup boiling water

1 cup sugar

2 tbsp marg

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

3/4 cups walnuts

 

 

 

 

 

In a small bowl, add dates, baking soda, and water. Set aside. Cream 1 cup sugar, 2 tbsp margarine, 1 egg, and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder.

Mix alternatively into a large bowl, the flour mixture, creamed mixture, and softened dates. Add the walnuts. Pour into lightly buttered bread pan. Bake at 325-350 for one hour (ovens vary). Cool!
